ABSTRACT A novel chemical method of labeling porphyrin compounds, specifically hemato- porphyrin derivative(HPD), with Technetium-99m producing a stable radioactive tracer material suitable for biomedical applications. 99mTc-HPD is preferentially taken up by breast tumors. This new radiopharmaceutical offers a simple and non-invasive means of visualizing neoplasms in men and animals.
