A signal processing utility (7) is disclosed involving time-to-frequency domain transforms for applications including medical diagnostic signal processing. Such transforms can be used to define a continuous spectral density function or other spectral density function including non-zero values at irregularly spaced frequency intervals. The invention thereby enables more accurate representation of certain real spectra and reduced spectral broadening. The utility also accounts for digitization errors associated with analog-to-digital conversion. The invention has particular advantages with respect to medical contexts where the received signal has a changing spectral content as a result of interaction of an interrogating signal (2) with moving physiological material such as blood flowing through an artery.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de traitement de signal permettant d'impliquer des transformées de domaines temps/fréquence pour des applications comprenant le traitement de signal médical diagnostique. De telles transformées peuvent être utilisées pour définir une fonction de densité spectrale continue ou d'autre fonction de densité spectrale englobant des valeurs différentes de zéro à des intervalles de fréquences séparés irrégulièrement. Cette invention a aussi trait une représentation plus précise de certains spectres réels et d'un élargissement spectral réduit. Ledit dispositif permet de comptabiliser des erreurs de numérisation liées à une conversion analogique-numérique et il présente des avantages spécifiques par rapport aux contextes médicaux, dans lesquels le signal reçu présente un contenu spectral changeant, suite à une interaction d'un signal d'interrogation avec une matière physiologique mobile, telle que le sang s'écoulant dans une artère.
