A system and method for determining the concentration of an analyte in a fluid sample includes a test strip (10) having a first (16) and second (18) portion separated by a bend line (14) formed in the base (12). The bend line (14) traverses the longitudinal axis of the base and the base (12) is adapted to bend about the bend line. The test strip (10) further includes a test element (20) disposed on one of the portions. The test strip includes a reagent adapted to react with the analyte in the fluid sample.
