This invention relates to the PrtR-PrtK cell surface protein of Porphyromonas gingivalis and in particular a multimeric cell associated protein complex comprising the PrtR and PrtK proteins. Accordingly the invention provides a substantially purified antigenic complex for use in raising an antibody response directed against Porphyromonas gingivalis. The complex comprises at least one multimeric protein complex of arginine-specific and lysine-specific thiol endopeptidases each containing at least one adhesin domain, the complex having a molecular weight of greater than about 200 kDa. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions and associated agents based on said complex for the detection, prevention and treatment of Periodontal disease associated with P. gingivalis.
Protéine de surface cellulaire PrtR-PrtK de Porphyromonas gingivalis et en particulier complexe de protéines associées à des cellules multimères, comprenant les protéines PrtR et PrtK. La présente invention concerne donc un complexe antigénique pratiquement purifié destiné à être utilisé pour susciter une réponse d'anticorps dirigée contre Porphyromonas gingivalis. Ledit complexe comprend au moins un complexe protéique multimère d'endopeptidases thiol spécifiques d'arginine et spécifiques de lysine, chacune contenant au moins un domaine adhésine, ledit complexe ayant un poids moléculaire supérieur à environ 200 kDa. La présente invention concerne également des compositions pharmaceutiques et des agents associés basés sur ledit complexe en vue de la détection, de la prévention et du traitement de maladies périodontiques associées à P. gingivalis.
