A plural-channel audio signal (e.g., a stereo audio) is processed to modify a gain (e.g., a volume or loudness) of a speech component signal (e.g., dialogue spoken by actors in a movie) relative to an ambient component signal (e.g., reflected or reverberated sound) or other component signals. In one aspect, the speech component signal is identified and modified. In one aspect, the speech component signal is identified by assuming that the speech source (e.g., the actor currently speaking) is in the center of a stereo sound image of the plural-channel audio signal and by considering the spectral content of the speech component signal.
Le procédé de l'invention consiste à traiter un signal audio multicanal (p. ex. un signal audio stéréo) pour modifier un gain (p. ex. volume ou sonie) d'un signal de composante vocale (p. ex. un dialogue prononcé par les acteurs d'un film) par rapport à un signal de composante ambiante (p. ex. son réfléchi) ou autres signaux de composante. Dans un aspect, le signal de composante vocale est identifié et modifié. Dans un aspect, on identifie le signal de composante vocale en partant de l'hypothèse que la source vocale (p.ex. l'acteur qui est en train de parler) se trouve au centre d'une image sonore stéréo du signal audio multicanal et en considérant le contenu spectral du signal de composante vocale.
