Aromatic derivatives of aliphatic diamines are effective in ameliorating conditions characterized by unwanted calcium ion channel activity, especially T-type and N-type channels. These conditions include, for example, stroke and pain. The aromatic derivatives of aliphatic diamines have the formula (I) : (Ar1-X1)nNR1-X3NR2-CR3(Ar2)2 wherein Ar1 is independently a cyclic moiety, X1 is a linker comprising a chain of 1-5 members; n is 1 or 2; R1 is absent when n is 2 and when n is 1, R1 is H, alkyl (1-8C), alkenyl (2-8C) or alkynyl (2- 8C); X3 is alkylene, alkenylene or alkynylene (2-8C); R2 is H, alkyl (1-8C), alkenyl (2-8C) or alkynyl (2-8C); X2 is a linker comprising a chain of 2-9 members; R3 is H, OH or alkyl (1-4C); each Ar2 independently comprises a 6- membered aromatic ring optionally containing 1-3 nitrogen atoms.
Des dérivés aromatiques de diamines aliphatiques peuvent être employés dans l'amélioration d'états pathologiques caractérisés par une activité anormale des canaux calcium, en particulier des canaux calcium de type T et de type N. Lesdits dérivés aromatiques de diamines aliphatiques sont de formule (I), (Ar1-X1)nNR1-X3NR2-CR3(Ar2)2 où Ar1 représente, de façon indépendante, un groupement cyclique, X1 représente un groupement pontant comprenant une chaîne constituée de 1 à 5 chaînons ; n est égal à 1 ou à 2 ; R1 est absent lorsque n est égal à 2, et lorsque n est égal à 1, R1 représente H, un groupement alkyle en C1-C8, un groupement alcényle en C2-C8 ou un groupement alcynyle en C2-C8 ; X3 représente un groupement alkylène, alcénylène ou alcynylène en C2-C8 ; R2 représente H, un groupement alkyle en C1-C8, un groupement alcényle en C2-C8 ou un groupement alcynyle en C2-C8 ; X2 est un groupement pontant comprenant une chaîne constituée de 2 à 9 chaînons ; R3 représente H, OH ou un groupement alkyle en C1-C4 ; chacun des groupements Ar2 comprend indépendamment un cycle aromatique à 6 chaînons incluant éventuellement entre 1 et 3 atomes d'azote.
