ABSTRACT A diamond abrasive wheel for use on stone is made up of a back-up support to be fixed on the driving spindle of a hand grinder. On the support there is a ring-like plate, made up of bonded diamond dust and able to be un- done from the support. The working face of the plate has coolant grooves sloping in the direction of turning. For producing the best possible relation between the size of the area of the working face and the force used for pushing the wheel against the work, the abrasive wheel is so designed that the plate has groove-like hollows between the coolant grooves for decreasing the acting abrasive face, these groove-like hollows being of such a design that, when the abrasive or working face is running on the work, it is not possible for the coolant to make its way from the middle of the wheel in an outward direction because the hollows are filled with a soft compound completely, or only at their inner and outer ends, up to the level of the working face.
