A high strength and high wear resistance diamond sintered body having a particle size in the range of 0.1 µm to 70 µm at the most, said sintered diamond particles being present in said diamond sintered body within the range of at least 80% by volume to less than 99% by volume, wherein said sintered diamond particles are directly bonded to one another, said diamond sintered body further comprising oxygen within the range of at least 0.005% by weight to less than 0.08% by weight, at least one of metallic tungsten and a tungsten compound within the range of at least 0.01% by weight to at most 8% by weight, and at least one sintering aid selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt and nickel, said sintered diamond body further comprising unavoidable impurities as a remainder.
On décrit un corps fritté en diamant qui présente d'excellentes caractéristiques de résistance à l'usure, de résistance à la rupture, de résistance aux chocs et de conductivité thermique et qui contient des particules de diamant fritté et pour le reste un adjuvant de frittage. La teneur en particules de diamant fritté ne représente pas moins de 80 % en volume mais représente cependant moins de 99 % en volume, les particules de diamant fritté présentent des grosseurs particulaires comprises entre 0,1 et 70 mu m, les particules de diamant fritté adjacentes sont directement liées les unes aux autres, l'adjuvant de frittage contient au moins un élément sélectionné dans le groupe formé par le tungstène, le fer, le cobalt et le nickel, et la proportion de tungstène dans le corps fritté est comprise entre 0,01 et 8 % en poids.
