ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In an electrolytic cell comprising a plurality of unit cells electrically connected in series and having electrode units, each unit having: a wall, anode elements attached to the wall having a plurality of anodic sur- faces extending away from one side of the wall and a plurality of cathodes extending away from the opposite side of the wall and offset from the anodic surfaces so that the anodic surfaces of the anodic elements attached to one wall are interleaved between cathodes extending outwardly from the next succeeding wall, the improvement wherein surface of the anodic surface of the wall exposed to the anolyte environment comprises titanium.
