ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides dicarboxylic acid bis-(3,5-dicarbamoyl-2,4,6-triiodoanilides) of the formula (I) Image in which R1 represents a lower alkyl group substituted by at least one hydroxyl group, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group or has the same meaning as the meaning represented by the symbol R1, R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group and X represents a direct carbon-to-carbon bond or an alkylene group which may be interrupted by at least one oxygen atom and/or may be substituted by at least one substituent selected from hydroxyl groups and lower alkyl groups.
