Abstract of the Disclosure Novel dichlorocyclobutanones of the formula: Image (A) in which Z is hydrogen and Z1 is chlorine, or Z1 is hydrogen and Z is chlorine or a group of the formula Image wherein R1 and R2 each independently represents hydrogen, halogen, methyl, methoxy, trifluoromethyl or cyano, or R1 and R2 together represent methylene- dioxy or a group -CH=CH-CH=CH- are disclosed, together with processes for their manufacture. The compounds (A) are useful as intermediates in the preparation of certain cyclopropanecarboxylic acid esters.
