D- 12006 DIELECTRIC COMPOSITIONS STABILIZED AGAINST WATER TREEING WITH ORGANO SILANE COMPOUNDS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure of this application is directed to compositions of ethylene polymers and at least one organo silane of the formula: Image wherein the variables are as subsequently defined; or the partially condensed organo silane formed from at least one organo silane, having the formula above, wherein the partial condensation has taken place by forming the group Image within the partially condensed silane. The compositions of this invention are characterized by resistivity to water tree- ing, a term generally used to describe the deterioration of solid dielectric material which is exposed to moisture and an electric field. By reason of long term resistivity to water treeing, due to non-migration of the silane additive, out of the composition, the compositions of this invention are particu- larly useful as insulation about high voltage wires and cables.
