ABSTRACT Flammable organic materials, such as synthetic polymers, arc rendered fire retardant by incorporating therein a fire retarding agent having the structure of a Diels-Alder adduct of a cyclopenta- dienyl polyhalide and an unsaturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic bromide. The flame retardant composition can also include synergists, stabilizers and bloom inhibitors.
