The present invention relates to a population of insulin producing cells made by a process comprising contacting non-insulin producing cells with a growth factor selected from the group consisting of GLP-1 or Exendin-4, growth factors having amino acid sequences substantially homologous to GLP-1 or Exendin-4, and fragmets thereof. The present invention also relates to methods of differentiating non-insulin producing cells into insulin producing cells and of enriching a population of cells for insulin-producing cells. The present invention also relates to methods of treating diabetes.
L'invention concerne une population de cellules produisant de l'insuline, fabriquées au moyen d'un procédé qui consiste à mettre des cellules ne produisant pas d'insuline en contact avec un facteur de croissance choisi dans le groupe constitué de GLP-1 ou d'Exendine-4, facteurs de croissance possédant des séquences d'acides aminés sensiblement homologues de GLP-1 ou d'Exendine-4, ou des fragments de ceux-ci. L'invention porte aussi sur des méthodes de différentiation de cellules ne produisant pas d'insuline, sous forme de cellules produisant de l'insuline, et d'enrichissement d'une population de cellules pour des cellules produisant de l'insuline. L'invention se rapporte encore à des méthodes de traitement du diabète.
