A diffraction grating for optical communication is disclosed. The diffraction grating includes a substrate and a reflective material adjacent the substrate, wherein one or more input optical signals incident the reflective material is diffracted into one or more output optical signals over a wavelength range of at least approximately 30nm, within which the diffraction grating is substantially polarization insensitive.

L'invention concerne un réseau de diffraction destiné à une communication optique. Ce réseau de diffraction comprend un substrat et une matière réfléchissante située au voisinage dudit substrat. Un ou plusieurs signaux d'entrée incidents sur cette matière réfléchissante sont diffractés en un ou plusieurs signaux optiques de sortie sur une plage de longueurs d'onde d'au moins environ 30 nm, plage dans laquelle le réseau de diffraction est pratiquement insensible à la polarisation.
