ABSTRACT. This invention relates to the separation of a gas from a mixture of gases by diffusion and is particularly concerned with the provision of improved means for carrying out such separation. In more detail, means for separating a gas from a mixture of gases containing that gas comprises a membrane selectively permeable to the gas to be separated supported on and secured to a relatively rigid support member provided with channels or holes such that gas, after passing through the membrane will pass into the said channels or through the said holes, the membrane being secured to the support member in at least part of a zone at or close to the periphery of the entrance to each channel or the periphery of each hole.
