ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel 18,18-difluorosteroids are disclosed of the general formula Image (Ia) wherein R3 denotes hydrogen or lower alkanoyl, R4 denotes hydrogen or lower aliphatic hydrocarbon, and St represents a radical of the partial formula: Image Image Image or (ST1) (St2) (St'2) Image (St3) wherein R5 is an oxo group or a hydrogen atom conjointly with a free or esteri- fiod hydroxyl group, or denotes two hydrogen atoms, R6 is hydrogen or lower alk- yl, and R7 and R are each hydrogen or methyl. The compounds (Ia) are useful as pharmaceutical intermediates. A number of the compounds (Ia) are physiologi- cally active and possess hormone-like properties.
