ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a digester useful for biological processes which is characterized by its minimal shearing forces. The digester consists of a vertical hollow tubular rotating shaft on which is connected a rosette having horizontal tubular arms. The shaft and rosette are rotated by a motor, thus creating a centrifugal force at the tips of the horizontal tubular arms, which lifts the liquid from the bottom of the reactor and discharge it through the tips of said arms. According to a preferred embodiment, the volume of the reactor is divided in two compartments by a concentric cylinder wherein in the upper part of said cylinder there are horizontal tubes which connect the inner side of the cylinder to its peripheral side. When the arms of the rosette are located at a lower level on the vertical shaft, there are formed two distinct regions: a lower part enriched in suspended particles and an upper part consisting of substantially clear liquid.
