A directional microphone comprises a shotgun microphone (16) having an elongated tube which is designed to control directivity at frequencies above a predetermined frequency and at least four reference microphones (20, 22, 24, 26) spatially arranged about said shotgun microphone (16). A signal processor (50), which is electrically connected to the shotgun and reference microphones, generates interference cancelling signals (from 96) from the portions of the signals from the reference microphones (20, 22, 24, 26) which have frequencies generally below the predetermined frequency. The signal processor (50) combines (98) the cancelling signals with the signal from the shotgun microphone (16) to generate an output signal (100) in which signals originating from in front of the directional microphone in a direction along the longitudinal axis of the tube are enhanced and signals originating from locations other than in front of the directional microphone in a direction along the longitudinal axis of the tube are suppressed.

L'invention concerne un microphone directionnel comportant d'une part, un micro-canon (16) présentant un tube allongé qui est conçu pour commander la directivité à des fréquences supérieures à une fréquence préétablie et d'autre part, au moins quatre microphones de référence (20, 22, 24, 26) disposés spatialement autour dudit micro-canon (16). Une unité de traitement des signaux (50), qui est électriquement reliée au micro-canon et aux microphones de référence, génère des signaux de suppression du brouillage (à partir de 96) à partir des parties des signaux émanant des microphones de référence (20, 22, 24, 26) qui sont à des fréquences généralement inférieures à la fréquence préétablie. L'unité de traitement des signaux (50) combine (98) les signaux de suppression et le signal en provenance du micro-canon (16) de façon à générer un signal de sortie (100) dans lequel les signaux qui proviennent de l'avant du microphone directionnel et qui se propagent dans la direction de l'axe longitudinal du tube sont renforcés et dans lequel les signaux provenant des autres directions sont supprimés.
