ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved digital display device is provided. It includes (a) three spaced-apart surfaces; (b) five non- identical segments associated with such surfaces, the seg- ments being activatable by energy to be optically visible, two said spaced apart surfaces being opposite faces of a transparent substrate, and at least one segment being dis- posed on each face of said transparent substrate and (c) means selectively activatable to supply activating energy to one or more of the segments, thereby to pro- vide a visible representation of a selected alpha-numeric element. This type of structure minimizes the electrical connection and simplifies the construction.
