A system is provided for recording information relating to the condition of electrodes in an electric arc furnace. A digital camera is provided in a consistent position relative to a photographing station. Periodically, the electrode columns are removed from the furnace and moved to a position such that a stub end of the electrode column is placed upon the photographing station. Then the stub end of the electrode column is photographed with a digital camera, and the digital images are stored in a memory of a computer for subsequent analysis.

La présente invention concerne un système permettant d'enregistrer des informations relatives à l'état d'électrodes dans un four à arc électrique. Un appareil photo numérique est placé dans une position stable par rapport à une station de prise de vue. Périodiquement, on retire du four les mâts d'électrode et on les place dans une position telle que le bout du mât d'électrode soit placé sur la station de prise de vue. Puis on photographie le bout de ce mât d'électrode avec un appareil photo numérique, et les images numériques sont stockées dans la mémoire d'un ordinateur en vue d'une analyse ultérieure.
