ABSTRACT A digital electronic watch comprises a time display device; time indicating circuitry for producting an actual time of day indication, for display by the display device; alarm time storage circuitry; an alarm setting circuit by which an alarm time may be set in the storage circuitry; an alarm for producing a warning when the set alarm time and the actual time of day indication coincide; display illuminating means; and means for preventing more than one of the alarm and the illuminating means from being in an energised state at any time. By preventing simultaneous energization of the alarm and the illuminating means, the power drain upon the battery of the watch is considerably decreased.
