ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A digital engine analyzer for receiving and processing analog input signals from an engine being analyzed, the analog signals each having a portion with a fast rise time, the analyzer including a fast analog-to- digital converter for relatively rapidly converting analog signals into main digital signals, a peak detector circuit for detecting the peak value of the fast rise time portion of each analog signal, a slow analog-to-digital converter for relatively slowly converting the peak values into peak digital signals, and processing means for combining the digital signals produced by the analog-to-digital converters to create a hybrid digital signal in which the peak of the fast rise time portion of the main digital signal is replaced with the peak digital signal.
