A ground fault interrupter apparatus is provided that employs a switching device that is operated in two stages. The first stage operates a solenoid in order to close the contacts and preferably provides coupling between the load and the power source. The second stage maintains the coupling, however, drawing less current and power from the internal devices of the apparatus. Accordingly, the fault interrupter meets various standards for the time required to open and close the contacts as well as keeping the dissipated heat from the device within the required range.
L'invention concerne un disjoncteur de fuite à la terre qui a recours à un interrupteur actionné en deux étapes. La première étape actionne un solénoïde afin de fermer les contacts et, de préférence, assure une connexion entre l'appareil consommateur et la source de courant. La seconde étape maintient la connexion, ce qui demande moins de courant et de puissance des composants internes du disjoncteur. En conséquence, le disjoncteur numérique de fuite à la terre est conforme à plusieurs normes relatives au délai nécessaire à l'ouverture et à la fermeture des contacts, de même qu'au maintien de la dissipation de la chaleur produite par l'appareil dans la plage de valeurs exigée.
