ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A digital liquid electronic timepiece comprises in combination a time counting circuit; a switching circuit for selecting a time signal corresponding to time units of seconds, minutes, hours and dates generated from the time counting cir- cuit; a liquid crystal display device having retardation effect for displaying a time signal in digital form selected by the switching circuit; a voltage generating circuit for generating. a plurality of different drive voltages for driving the liquid crystal display device; the driving voltage of the liquid crystal display device being changed whenever the time units displayed in the liquid crystal display device are changed.
