The digital measuring system of the present invention includes a recoilable measuring tape with a plurality of regularly-spaced markers and a case enclosing said recoilable measuring tape. An electronic sensing means in the case transmits a signal corresponding to the incremental passage of the markers as the tape is withdrawn from the case. Also provided are a microprocessor and a control module.
