A digital oscillator including an oscillator (40), a counter (41), a memory (42), a digital-to-analog converter (43) and a low-pass filter (44) is disclosed. The memory is able to store a complex signal directly, such that a real-time computing unit is no longer required. The oscillator is particularly suitable for eddy current measurements.
