A digital stamp is described which can print out a message using a moveable inkjet printhead (30) which can be moved by a mechanical arrangement of arm (35) and pivots (33, 36). A cartridge (20) containing ink feeds the printhead (30) with monochrome or color ink via lines (52). Movement of the upper section (10) of the housing towards the lower section (12) of the housing moves the arm (35) to slide the printhead (30) across the aperture (34) in the lower section (12) while at the same time electronic signals fed to the printhead (30) print out the stored message. A spring (42) returns the printhead (30) to its inoperative position once having traversed the opening (34). The stored message may be fixed, replaceable or programmable or may be one from a fixed number of stored or updateable messages or images or can be input by an attached apparatus, for example, a CCD imager, to record an image and to print it via the printhead (30). The digital stamp can replace a rubber stamp in an office or may be used to print labels in a retail environment. An infra-red ink may also be supplied which can be used to print an encoded digital message with or on top of a visual print-out as a security measure when a printhead having the necessary number of inkjet nozzles is employed.
L'invention porte sur un caractère mobile numérique permettant l'impression d'un message à l'aide d'une tête d'impression à jet d'encre mobile qui peut être déplacée par un agencement mécanique de type bras (35) et pivots (33, 36). On prévoit une cartouche (20) contenant de l'encre acheminée vers la tête d'impression (30) avec de l'encre monochrome ou couleur via des lignes (52). Le mouvement de la partie supérieure (30) du boîtier en direction de la partie inférieure (12) du boîtier déplace le bras (35) de manière à faire glisser la tête d'impression (30) à travers l'ouverture (34) pratiquée dans la partie inférieure (12) alors qu'en même temps des signaux électroniques sont acheminés vers la tête d'imprimante (30) et impriment le message mémorisé. Le message mémorisé peut être fixé, remplacé ou programmé ou être défini par un nombre déterminé de messages ou d'images mémorisé(e)s ou mis à jour ou peut être saisi par un appareil fixé, notamment un image CCD, afin d'enregistrer une image et de l'imprimer via la tête d'impression (30). Le caractère mobile numérique peut remplacer un timbre caoutchouc dans un bureau ou être utilisé pour imprimer des étiquettes dans un environnement de vente au détail. Une encre infrarouge peut aussi être acheminée et servir à imprimer un message numérique codé avec une sortie d'imprimante visuelle tenant lieu de mesure de sécurité lorsque la tête d'impression ayant le nombre nécessaire de buses de jet d'encre est utilisée.
