A digital reception device comprises a synchronizer for receiving and synchronizing a stream having additional data, an equalizer which equalizes the synchronized stream and a forward error correction (FEC) processor for performing forward error correction of the equalized stream. A detector is provided for detecting information regarding the additional data transmitted through a predetermined channel. At least one of the equalizer and the FEC processor uses information detected by the detection unit.
