ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A gain control device for reproducing digital signals obtained by A/D conversion of analog audio signals, the device comprising: a detector for detecting the appearance of a digital value exceeding a predetermined value from data of a digital signal obtained by conversion of an analog signal, a delay for delaying the digital signal, a convertor for converting the digital signal from the delay into an analog signal; and a gain control for controlling a gain of the analog signal from the convertor to as to decrease in accordance with a detection signal from the said detector.
