ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention is concerned with novel cardenolide derivatives which are useful in the immunoassay of digoxin and in the making of labelled derivatives that are useful in the radioimmunoassay (RIA) of digoxin levels in serum and plasma. The new compounds are histamine derivatives of digoxigenin, and include radiolabelled and especially the iodine-labelled histamine derivatives. The new compounds, methods of making them, and their use in RIA determination of digoxin constitute several aspects of the invention.
