RAN 4090/165 Abstract The present invention relates to an assay for measuring total serum diqoxin using a combination of centrifugal ultrafiltration and dissociation agents used to dissociate the digoxin bound to the serum proteins. A number of compounds have been found to be effective either alone or in combination in dissociating protein-bound digoxin from the serum proteins. Examples of such effective dissociation agents include quindine, Vitamin E (.alpha.-tocophecol), lower alkanols, and C3-C26 fatty acids, most preferably long chain saturated and unsaturated fatty acids.
