Abstract The present invention is directed to a dihalopropene compound of the formula I: Image wherein 1 is an integer of 1 to 5; m is an integer of 1 to 4; R1 and R2 are the same or different and are independently halogen or various other groups; D is oxygen; X is the same or different and is independently chlorine or bromine; Y is oxygen; Z, P and Q are the same or different and are independently nitrogen or CH, provided that P and Q are not simuitaneously nitrogen, and when Y is sulfur, Z is CH. The invention is further directed to an insecticide/acaracide comprising the dihalopropene compound as an active ingredient. The dihalopropene compound exhibits excellent insecticidal/acaracidal action. Further disclosed is an intermediate compound for use in the production of the dihalopropene compound.
