A near-infrared absorbing compound that does not contain antimony and arsenic, excelling in stability, especially heat resistance, light stability and resistance to hot moisture; and, produced with the use of the near-infrared absorbing compound and excelling in resistances, an infrared absorption filter, optical storage medium and resin composition. There is provided a diimonium salt compound characterized by having the structure of the formula: (1) (wherein each of R1 to R8 is independently a hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic hydrocarbon group and each of R9 and R10 is independently a halogenated or nonhalogenated aliphatic hydrocarbon group, provided that the ring A and ring B may further have substituents), and provided a composition characterized by containing the diimonium salt.

Cette invention concerne un composé absorbant le proche infrarouge, exempt d'antimoine et d'arsenic, présentant une stabilité remarquable, singulièrement en termes de résistance à la chaleur, de stabilité à la lumière et de résistance à la chaleur humide ainsi qu'un filtre d'absorption des infrarouges, un support de stockage optique et une composition de résine remarquablement résistants. L'invention concerne un sel de diimonium caractérisé en ce qu'il possède une structure représentée par la formule (1) (dans laquelle chacun de R¿1? à R¿8 ?est indépendamment un atome d'hydrogène ou un groupe hydrocarboné aliphatique substitué ou non substitué, et R¿9? et R¿10? sont indépendamment un groupe hydrocarboné aliphatique halogéné ou non halogéné, a condition que le noyau A et le noyau B puissent éventuellement avoir d'autres substituants).
