A power supply for a two-wire load control device supplies power to a microprocessor, in turn controlling the power supply which comprises an energy storage element, e.g., a capacitor, for producing a DC voltage for powering the microprocessor and also includes a high impedance circuit for allowing the energy storage element to receive energy at a first rate before the DC voltage is produced and the microprocessor is powered. The power supply further comprises a low-impedance circuit, i.e., a resistor in series electrical connection with a controllably conductive device, for allowing the energy storage element to receive energy at a second rate greater than the first rate. After starting up, the microprocessor selectively enables and disables the second energy-receiving circuit by rendering the controllably conductive device conductive and non-conductive, respectively. The microprocessor monitors the power supply and to control the amount of power delivered to an electrical load.

L'alimentation pour un dispositif de contrôle de charge à deux fils alimente un microprocesseur qui contrôle, à son tour, l'alimentation. Elle comprend un élément de stockage d'énergie, notamment un condensateur produisant une tension CC alimentant le microprocesseur et un circuit haute impédance permettant à l'élément de stockage d'énergie de recevoir l'énergie à une première vitesse avant la production de la tension CC et l'alimentation du microprocesseur. L'alimentation comprend aussi un circuit à faible impédance, notamment une résistance en connexion électrique en série dotée d'un dispositif conducteur contrôlable, permettant à l'élément de stockage d'énergie de recevoir l'énergie à une seconde vitesse supérieure à la première vitesse. Après démarrage, le microprocesseur ouvre et ferme sélectivement le second circuit de réception d'énergie en modifiant la conduction du dispositif contrôlable. Le microprocesseur surveille l'alimentation et contrôle la quantité d'énergie acheminée vers une charge électrique connectée au dispositif de contrôle de charge suite à la surveillance de l'alimentation.
