ABSTRACT A diode driver circuit for driving P-I-N diodes is disclosed. A differential pulse amplifier has two input terminals to which signals 180° out of phase with each other are applied. The amplifier has two outputs providing mutually 180° voltages. One of the outputs is connected to a low impedance transistor circuit and the other through a capacitor to another transistor operating as a constant current source. The cathode of the diode is connected to both the low impedance circuit and the constant current circuit. The constant current circuit operates to supply an excess current for only a short period from the time the diode is biassed from the reverse to the forward direction. The current allows switching of the diode at high speed with little jitter. Power consumption of the circuit is low.
