A dip aerator for sewage treatment plants comprising: a pump having a downwardly directed pump outlet and a pump inlet, the pump inlet being positioned below a water level in a sewage treatment basin of a sewage treatment plant; and an air hose, connected with the pump inlet and extending with a specified volume below the water level such that water fills the air hose when the pump is off in a manner such that water is delivered initially out of the pump outlet when the pump is activated.
