ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dipstick, or ullage rod, for measuring the fluid level in a fluid reservoir, such as, the oil level in the crankcase of a combustion engine, wherein the reservoir has a complex shaped access tube, the dipstick including a handle portion and an elongated, flat wire blade portion including at least one twisted portion of relatively gradual and continuous angular variation for increasing the flexibility of the blade portion to facilitate passage thereof into the complex shaped access tube.
