The invention relates to a method for inducing systemic resistance in plants, thereby protecting plants against a broad range of plant pathogens and disease. The method of the invention comprises the application of a biologically active formulation, comprising a diphenyl ether, to a plant. In accordance with the invention, it has been observed that use of this formulation results in induced systemic resistance in a target plant. Also in accordance with the method of the invention, the formulation has been shown to trigger long-lasting, non-specific systemic resistance in the plant to a variety of pathogens and disease. Furthermore, the method of the invention results in an increase in the levels of plant isoflavones.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'induire une résistance systémique chez les plantes, résistance qui permet de protéger lesdites plantes contre une large gamme d'agents pathogènes et de phytopathologies. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à appliquer, sur une plante, une formulation biologiquement active contenant un diphényl éther. Conformément à l'invention, nous avons observé que l'utilisation de cette formulation entraîne l'induction d'une résistance systémique chez une plante cible. Toujours conformément au procédé de l'invention, il a été démontré que la formulation déclenche, chez la plante, une résistance systémique non spécifique à long terme contre divers agents pathogènes et diverses pathologies. En outre, le procédé selon l'invention provoque une augmentation des niveaux d'isoflavones végétales.
