A process for the selective production of acetaldehyde by vapor phase reaction of acetic acid over a hydrogenating catalyst composition to form acetaldehyde is disclosed and claimed. In an embodiment of this invention reaction of acetic acid and hydrogen over platinum and iron supported on silica selectively produces acetaldehyde in a vapor phase at a temperature of about 300°C.
Linvention concerne une méthode de production sélective d'acétaldéhyde par réaction en phase vapeur d'acide acétique sur une composition catalysante d'hydrogénation, pour former l'acétaldéhyde. Dans un mode de réalisation, la réaction de l'acide acétique et de l'hydrogène sur du platine et du fer disposés sur un support de silice produit sélectivement de l'acétaldéhyde en phase vapeur, à une température d'environ 300°C.
