05295 Abstract of the Disclosure Direct Current Adjusting Device The invention is directed to a direct current adjusting device for a direct current motor 3 with a free-wheeling diode which is connected in parallel with the armature winding and with a controllable switching element 2 which is connected in series with the armature winding, including a pulse duration modulator configured as a two-step con- troller and comprising a first comparator with hysteresis 10. A control voltage Ust1 predetermining the desired rotational speed is applied to the one input of the first comparator with hysteresis 10 while its other input is connected to an integrating element 7, 9 connected to a control voltage through an electronic switch 8. Applied to the control terminal of the electronic switch 8 is either the output of the first comparator with hysteresis 10 or the voltage at the switching point of the con- trollable switching element 2. An additionally provided current limiting device comprising a second comparator with hysteresis 20 operates when a maximum current flowing through the controllable switching element 2 is exceeded, taking over the control of the controllable switching element 2. A third comparator with hysteresis 30 operating in conjunction with a resistor 33 inserted in the armature circuit of the DC motor 3 and an NTC resistor 32 in thermal contact with this resistor serves the function of an electronic overtemperature protection. A fourth comparator with hysteresis 40 monitors the operating voltage of the electronic control system in order to prevent that the DC adjuster turns on in the presence of a current flowing through the controllable switching element 2 which is lower than a predeterminable minimum value, which would otherwise result in a thermal overload of the controllable switching element 2.
