A DIRECT CURRENT BALLAST CIRCUIT FOR ARC DISCHARGE LAMP Abstract of the Disclosure In the manufacture of arc tube lamps operating under direct current conditions, it is only necessary to employ an energy storage capacitor to provide current during certain portions of the operating cycle sufficient to maintain the arc discharge. It is an object of the present invention to provide a DC ballast circuit in which the energy storage capacitor can be made to be effective while still being reduced in physical size and capacitance rating. The size of the storage capac- itor is particularly important in those ballast circuits contained within miniature arc discharge lamps in which an integral electronic ballast circuit is incorporated.
