ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A d.c. circuit breaker comprises in parallel with a cir- cuit breaker section a current commutating auxiliary circuit for- med by a capacitance and/or an inductance. A gas mixture consist- ing essentially of an SF6 gas and nitrogen or of an SF6 gas and air is used as an arc-extinguishing and insulating medium for said breaker section.
