- 15 - ABSTRACT A direct current machine has an armature, in which a plurality of wave wound coils are supported by slots in juxtaposition to a plurality of field poles. The wave winding is modified in that each of the coils is wound as two or more divided coil portions for the coil winding, with corresponding sides of the portions of a coil being wound in peripherally adjacent slots of the armature.
