An investigation using cultured human cancer cells and 12 monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) directed against different determinants of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) was done to determine the presence or absence of direct dose dependent cytotoxic activity. Adenocarcinoma of uterine cervix cells (HeLa CCL 2.0) were grown in defined media. The cells were incubated with selected doses of each MAb for 2 to 3 days. There was a direct dose dependent effect by a MAb directed against the natural hCG.beta. carboxy terminal peptide (CTP) by a MAb directed against hCG.alpha. and by one of the three MAbs produced by the synthetic hCG.beta.-CTP, CTP103.

La présente invention est le fruit d'une recherche qui a été effectuée sur des cellules cancéreuses humaines cultivées et sur 12 anticorps monoclonaux (MAb) dirigés contre différents déterminants de la gonadotrophine chorionique humaine (hCG) afin de déterminer la présence ou l'absence d'une activité cytotoxique directe reliée à la dose. Des adénocarcinomes de cellules du col utérin (HeLa CCL 2,0) ont été cultivées dans des milieux spécifiques. Les cellules ont été incubées avec des doses choisies de chacun des MAb pendant 2 à 3 jours. Il a été découvert un effet direct relié à la dose de la part d'un MAb dirigé contre le peptide C-terminal (CTP) naturel de la hCG.beta., d'un MAb dirigé contre la hCG.alpha. et de la part de l'un des trois MAb produits par la CTP synthétique de la hCG.beta., le CTP 103.
