46,178 DIRECT DIGITAL TECHNIQUE FOR GENERATING AN AC WAVEFORM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A digital circuit employing a programmable read only memory (PROM) provides direct digital driving of semiconductor devices comprising a bridge clrcuit of an inverter to develop a predetermined AC output waveform. The combination of the programmable read only memory and an up-down counter provides the capability of stopping the output waveform at predetermined points as well as reversing the phase direction of the AC output waveform to thereby permit greater control of an electrical system driven by the AC output waveform.
