Abstract of the Disclosure Substituted pyridine compounds particularly alkyl-substituted pyridines, are directly fluorinated to the corresponding 2-fluoro alkyl-substituted pyridines. Fluorine gas, preferably diluted with an inert gas, is passed into the substituted pyridine, preferably in a solvent, at a temperature of +25°C to -40°C, preferably about -25°C.
