F-2A-20619/KT/78 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A light-sensitive silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon a layer containing a compound represented by the formula (I): Image (I) wherein R1 represents an aliphatic or aromatic residue; R2 represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic or an aromatic residue; and X1 and X2, which may be the same or different, each represents a divalent aromatic group; and a method of forming a direct positive image which comprises processing a light sensitive silver halide photographic material having a support carrying thereon an internal latent image type silver halide emulsion layer in the presence of the compound represented by the said formula (I). The compound is particularly effective in combination with diffusible dye releasing (DRR) compounds having o-hydroxyarylsulfamoyl groups.
