The purpose of this invention is to replace the conventional cranks and pedals rotary mechanism used in man propelled vehicles, such as the bicycle, the weakness of such a mechanism being the cyclic changes from 0 to 1 in the propelling force at various angles during the rotation of the pedals. This invention ensures, through an up and down direct chain pull pedaling mechanism, that the force applied on the pedal by the foot of the rider is transmitted without any significant changes to the backwheel during pedaling action. The mechanism is made up of two identical parts seated on each side of the bicycle and linked to each other. Each of these parts is made up of a set of sprocketwheels installed on one side of the backwheel, a shaft pedal rotatable at one end on the backwheel axle, a sprocketwheel mounted directly over the second end of the pedal which is shaped like a footplate and a bicycle chain tied to the footplate and passing over the sprocketwheels. The free ends of the chains of each side are linked by a chain or a cable looping around a sprocket or a pulley in front of the backwheel. The backwheel rotates under the alternate pulling action of the feet. The down movement of one pedal produced an up movement of the other by means of the linking chain.
