ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A direct top vent fireplace comprises an exterior housing including a top wall and a back wall. A combustion chamber is provided in the housing with the combustion chamber having a rear wall and a lower end combustion air opening through the rear wall into the combustion chamber. The fireplace further includes coaxial combustion air inlet and flue gas exhaust stacks extending upwardly from the top wall of the housing, an interior air circulation space through the housing outwardly around the combustion chamber and a combustion air conduit located directly against the rear wall of the combustion chamber running from the combustion air inlet stack to the lower end opening in the rear wall of the combustion chamber. The interior air circulation space surrounds and separates the combustion air conduit from the back wall of the housing.
